Hubert Hasler

Empathy, migration, and self-reflection are topics that move, affect and lure Austrian photographer and local artist Hubert Hasler over and over again. These issues can be tackled through photographic means, but can also be represented by the use of plants, flowers, bouquets – alternatively, they can be combined in a performative manner, bringing together two very divergent disciplines and respectively forms of art and craftsmanship. As the significance of a photograph can be reinforced or enriched by drawing attention to flowers, the artist thus aims to examine whether a correlation between these two categories exists.

Hubert Hasler has an ongoing book project that focuses on his work in New York City in 2015 and the topic of migration. The next project will bring him to Romania.
