Participation Requirements

Proposals may only be submitted by artists and collectives that have already participated in the programs of das weisse haus / studio das weisse haus. Additionally, applicants must work and live in Austria in 2018. The application process is carried out in two steps.

Step 1
Artists who meet the aforementioned requirements are kindly asked to submit a professional portfolio with works of the past five years, as well as a CV and a motivation letter.
From all the submissions received by Janurary 04, 2018, the jury members – including Viktor Bucher (galerist), Margot Pilz (artist) und Gabriele Schor (chief curator Sammlung Verbund) – will meet on January 15, 2018 in order to select 5 candidates for each award.

Step 2
The five candidates nominated for Erste Bank ExtraVALUE Art Award will be asked to submit an initial concept for the exhibition at the ACFNY by February 19, 2018. It may include existing works or have a discursive, site-specific and/or participatory format.
The same procedure is applied to those five candidates, who were nominated for the Erste Bank ExtraVALUE Recognition Award. They will be asked to submit an initial concept for the exhibition at das weisse haus by February 19, 2018. It may include existing works or have a discursive, site-specific and/or participatory format.

Final Decision
On March 12, 2018 the jury will select the two awardees. In the final decision, this year’s selection board will be supported by Ruth Goubran (head of Community Affairs & Sponsoring Erste Bank) and Alexandra Grausam (head of das weisse haus / studio das weisse haus).

The awardees will be announced at a press conference on March 16, 2018.
